Ryland Environmental is an innovative, privately owned, licensed solid waste management company in Georgia. It comprises a mixture of business-minded owners and solid waste professionals.

The company began in 2009 as a contractor with exclusivity to government contracts. Our prompt customer service sold our company and our equipment and management built our reputation.

Meet the Management Team

Todd Yates

Partner and Director of Sales

Todd owns several successful businesses and is a graduate of the University of Georgia’s Terry Business School with a degree in Risk Management.

Todd started Ryland Environmental to answer a need for good customer service and a commitment to maintaining that long after the initial contact.

James Lanier

Partner

James is the managing partner and director of operations. He has over 20 years of experience in the solid waste industry. He has been implementing and managing solid waste and recycling programs for many municipalities and counties in Georgia and South Carolina. He has attended Georgia Southern University and majored in Chemistry with a minor in Biology. He was recently re-elected to his third term on the Dublin City School Board of Education.

James has a unique understanding of the solid waste industry and its many applications and requirements. He has experience in every facet of industrial, commercial, residential, and recycling services.

Richard Lee

Division Manager Southeast Georgia

Richard graduated High School from Brantley County 1982 and went on to graduate from UGA in 1986 with a Poultry Science degree.

He then worked in management in 3 different Poultry Processors over a 10 year period before going to work for Southland Waste Systems, in Waycross, GA. Richard successfully managed the waste disposal contracts for most of southeast Georgia for a period of 22 years. Richard started Local Waste Services in May 2019 in an effort to get back to the basics of customer service and community. Local Waste Services and Ryland Environmental merged in 2020 with a shared dream of a regional, customer oriented, waste management company.

Ricard has been married for 25 years to Christina Lee and they have been blessed with a 23 year old daughter, Courtney and a 17 year old son, Walker. They have lived in Dixie Union for 12 years.

John Nail

Operations Manager

John joined the Ryland team in January of 2020 to manage the operations of our growing company. John is originally from Baxley, GA and has a BBA in Accounting from Georgia Southern University. John has managed waste management companies in various areas from South Georgia to South Carolina to Tennessee. He brings a unique blend of experience with larger companies blended with a passion to have an ability to work in a smaller company with more emphasis on the customer.

John has been married for 12 years and has two children and currently resides in Baxley, GA.
